Of course we all know that values in the real estate market have dropped almost everywhere in the U.S., in California we have a Proposition 8. I called the assessors office and told them I was being taxed on a higher value than my home is actually worth. I received notification that they were reducing the value by 39,564.

This is only temporary and will be reviewed again in July however I am going to save quite a bit on county taxes and YOU can do the same, as long as this market stays where it is, the taxable value will stay lower.
